Once set, they are driven to Vaattunki, a wild forest area, where lumberjacks determine the unique atmosphere of the area, to test the gear to be worn over the following freezing days. Dinner is served in the hotel.

Day 2

Cruising the ice-breaker “Sampo” & the LumiLinna Ice Castle

Guests are driven to the port city of Kemi where they board the icebreaker “Sampo” and embark on an amazing cruise at the frozen Bothnia Bay. During the cruise they will witness the unique capability of the ship to split meter-thick ice.

During the journey, the team will stop engines for guests to swim in the icy waters, wearing special diving suits.

After the cruise guests return to Kemi for lunch and continue to the Lumi Linnna Icecastle – a frozen castle and hotel that is rebuilt every year.

Day 3

Frozen Falls and Husky Dogs

After breakfast guests depart on a hike. A steep way down the snowy mountain leads guests to the frozen falls. The brave among the group are given the opportunity to climb all the way and touch the still, frozen water. Once back up from the mountain, guests are driven to a husky farm where the dogs offer a warm, excited welcome to the group!  The group are given a short educational talk on the dogs before venturing out on a dog sleigh-ride in wild terrain, carried by 6 dogs. At the end of the trip guests will enjoy a warm beverage together before departing on the transfer for Ivalo, 280Km from Rovaniemi.

Day 4

Ivalo – Sevetijärvi

The morning starts with guests being made familiar with their snowmobiles, which they will use over the following days; before embarking on a 170 km ride between snowy wooden trails and driving over a frozen lake -one of the largest in Lapland, before  stopping for a scenic lunch on an island. In the evening guests visit Sevetijärvi reindeer farm (overnight in the farm hostel standard 4-6 persons per room) where they enjoy a traditional Lapp dinner and Finnish sauna. The group are offered photography training on exposures in the snow and taking care of their equipment in extreme conditions and after dinner guests will venture in the attempt to “hunt down” the Aurora Borealis, if weather conditions allow.

Day 5

Sevetijärvi – the Northern Sea – Sevetijärvi

Guests depart on a snowmobile safari ride to the northmost point in the journey; crossing the border to Norway and arriving at a fishermen village on the shores of the frozen Northern Sea. Guests are given the opportunity to meet the local residents, learning about their lifestyles in such extreme climates. Lunch is enjoyed on the northern side of the Norwegian border before returning to Sevetijärvi for dinner and a warming sauna.

Day 6

Sevetijärvi- Ivalo – Rovaniemi

The group depart in the morning on a snowmobile safari ride back to Ivalo, driving along the eastern coast of Lake Inari. Reaching Ivalo by the afternoon, the group will then leave their snowmobiles and depart on a transfer back to Rovaniemi, enjoying their last Sami night in town.
